Description
Solid Hardwood and Tool Steel Marking Knife
Marking knives are great for layout work in your shop because they’re many times more accurate than thicker pencil lines. But the advantage of scribing doesn’t end there; a scribed line pre-scores your wood, making final cuts with your hand or power tools more crisp and clean by eliminating unsightly tearout. But wait, there’s more! When you use a scribed layout line you create a very fine registration point for starting your chisel, hand saw or power tool cut. You won’t have the “which side of the pencil line should I start on” question that inevitably creeps into your head when working with a pencil layout line.
This marking knife has a comfortable 5″ long hardwood handle for all-day use. It features a precision ground tool steel edge with a 55° included angle that slices wood fibers cleanly and tracks straight and true. Made for either left or right-hand use.
Features include:
- Solid hardwood handle construction
- Precision ground HSS knife edge for superior durability
- 6-1/2″ overall length, 5″ long handle with 1.5″ x 5/8″ blade
- Finely crafted and feels solid in your hand

Some tools should never be far from a woodworker’s hands when they’re in the shop. That’s why we created the Woodworker’s Master Marking Set. This six piece set includes tools for measuring and marking that see constant use with any serious woodworking project, from a basic steel rule, to a sliding double square.
Let’s start with the 9” Sliding bevel and its companion bevel gauge. To cut an accurate angle on any length of wood, find that angle and set the sliding bevel, locking the angle in place.
Next up is our wheel marking gauge and a marking knife. The marking gauge includes cutters to lay out both sides of a mortise in one pass.
We’ve also included the indispensable 4” sliding double square. Use it for transferring dimensions for joinery and laying out rabbets or tenons.
Our 6” steel rule includes four imperial scales and even a 1/32” end scale. Another great tool for machinery set up.
With this set of premium measuring and marking tools, you’ll always have what you need, close at hand.
